==Context==
This GameBoy game is developed for Game Boy Competition 2023. The theme of this game jam is "You are the monster", so my game protagonist is a Kaiju, a giant monster. And also because of this table-turning theme, I decide to design a game that render the protagonist on background/window layer instead of sprite. She will be animated via massive amount of tile swapping. And some part of the background will be ,in opposite, rendered as sprite.
The result is quite fun, but the production is quitetime-consuming, and in this 3-month game jam I can only finish 3 minigames even when I have more ideas in my mind.

Very cute art work! The games menus and systems are technically impressive and innovative. The simple gameplay works well with the art style, however, Tapping the button repeatedly felt a bit flimsy and could use some better feedback/juciness, as well as fewer repetitive tapping sections. Holding the button before having to switch to another button would be far more accessible. Repetitive tapping is kinda painful for some people..
I liked the level select menu the most! Great work over all!
Thanks for the feedback.
When i start developing a minigame, I focus more on the visual because of the technical limit of GameBoy. That's probably why 2 of my minigames end up with tapping mechanic. I will try other game control when I extend my project.
Super cute! some of the effects in this are just so rad! Like the credits scroll! How did you manage to have the text scroll like that?
Really charming experience and a technical marvel. Well done!
Thanks for likeing my game.
The credit scrolling is actually quite simple, not even requires engine library. The text is on background layer scrolling, the bottom graphic is on window layer, every sprites is pinned and fading effect is just sprites with dithering
Ah, it's so cu~te! :3
So cute! Great gameplay ideas and impressive use of all the GBS functions.
Cute!
This looks great, is technically impressive and also really fun!
I feel like a kid all over again
Cute short game
love the art style and the technical stuff you are doing! very cool!
